LONDON (Reuters) - A baby born prematurely escaped death on Sunday after doctors at a hospital in the Scottish city of Glasgow were puzzled by his unprecedented skin, the Mirror newspaper reported.

The baby was born with translucent skin, through which he could see his bones and see blood flow throughout his body.

The doctors gave a caesarean section to the baby's mother after only 21 weeks (6 months), which made doctors warn her against "preparing for the worst", because they thought that her son could not survive, especially after the exit of the umbilical cord that supplies the fetus with oxygen from his place.

The child was discharged from hospital at the age of 5 months after medical staff struggled to keep the baby alive.

"I was very shocked and nervous when I first touched him, he was very young," the child's mother said, noting that about five months after his birth, the medical team allowed him to be discharged from hospital in normal health.
