Today a flagrant failure is consummated in the Cortes. It is nothing more and nothing less than the failure of a fundamental pillar in the framework of any plural society: the failure of understanding. A failure born in the inability of a Congress that, in breach of its mandate of popular representation, has not crystallized the will of citizens in the formation of a Government. And a failure that has as protagonists a political generation that arrived at the institutions to rid them of the vices - that they maintained - of the old leaders, but that were lost along the way between their personalistic quarries plunging Spain into the period of greatest ungovernability of its recent history . Today, for the fourth time in four years, Parliament is dissolved. And our political class, lacking any hint of self-criticism, relocates voters to the polls to transfer their irresponsibility and try to solve a parliamentary blockade that should be non-existent if the elementary rules of the political game were respected.

The bill to maintain national paralysis for so long is bulky. There is, for example, the purely economic cost, translated into a loss of wealth of two tenths of GDP and 200,000 jobs that have been created since the political map fragmented in 2015. But it goes much further. The lack of consensus hinders the approval of budgets according to the current situation, hindering the implementation of the measures that demand the domestic and global challenges facing Spain: from preparing for the consequences of Brexit and the commercial war to strengthening a productive system whose support (tourism, industry, the car ...) needs a conversion that will not come without a public action plan. Four valuable years of work have been lost because the temporality of governments, their abnormal functioning, has as a dangerous derivative that political leaders do not think about the future of the country, but their own, living in an eternal campaign bubble. Thus, the Toledo pact is wrecked again and again while the pension system approaches the abyss or the basic services of citizens are affected by the tortious use of autonomous government financing.

It can be said that the most calculating version of Pablo Iglesias has contributed to this situation, that Albert Rivera has been able to sin as a contemplator or that Pablo Casado has remained in his role as leader of the opposition. But the maximum cause of failure is none other than Pedro Sánchez . He, as he said in his day to Mariano Rajoy, was commissioned to get support for his endowment. But, blinded by his completely free leitmotiv, the reality is that he has not wanted to agree with either the left or the right center. This block is the result of their irresponsibility.
