It was last summer that the discovery was made when the coordinator of the Umeå International Literature Festival, Erik Jonsson, found the short story in Sara Lidman's archive at the Umeå University Library. This is reported by the Västerbotten Courier.

Sara Lidman was cared for at Hällnäs sanatorium between the ages of 12 and 14, but so far it has been the opinion that she has not left any texts about the time there. But when Erik Jonsson went through a folder in her archive of undated manuscripts, he found a text that began with the phrase "Everyday in the sanatorium's assembly room".

The novel can be dated to 1942, two years after Lidman was discharged from the sanatorium. The text is published today in the magazine Vasaplan.
