The United Arab Emirates has decided to join the International Alliance for the Safety and Protection of Maritime Navigation and ensure the safety of sea lanes.


His Excellency Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Security Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said that the UAE's accession to this international alliance aims to support regional and international efforts to face the threats of maritime navigation and global trade and ensure global energy security and the continued flow of energy supplies to the global economy and contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security.


The Alliance aims to protect merchant ships by providing safe navigation to ensure freedom of maritime navigation and international trade and to protect the interests of participating countries in a manner that enhances the security and safety of merchant ships passing through the corridors. The IOSCO's area of ​​operation covers the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, the Sea of ​​Oman and the Arabian Gulf.
