The Cars singer found dead

According to New York police, Ric Ocasek was found dead in his Manhattan home, reports several US media. The police had been alerted to the scene and when they arrived Ric Ocasek was already dead. No crime is suspected in connection with the death.

The band split in 1988 but reunited again in 2010 to release a new studio album the following year. Late last year, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ric Ocasek was previously married to the Swedish-American model and actress Paulina Porizkova.
