LONDON (Reuters) - A purist gold toilet made by Italian artist Maurizio Catellan was stolen from the Blenheim Palace on Saturday, damaging the UNESCO World Heritage site in southern England, police said.

The 18-carat gold toilet is named “America”. It was on display in the 18th-century mansion in Oxford, in a collection of works by Maurizio Catellan.

The thieves entered “the site forcibly at night and left around 4.50 pm (3.50 GMT),” local police said in a statement.
