The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) today inaugurated the development of Al Yalais and Al Asayel Roads. The Al Yalais Road will strengthen the connection between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Roads and the Emirates, while Al Asayel Road is parallel to Al Khail Street, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Street. Nahyan and Emirates Road, the project contributes to support the economic movement, and provide additional entrances and exits for development projects in the region such as Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali development.


Matar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said that the project was implemented under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to cope with the ongoing development in the Emirate of Dubai, meet the requirements of growth and urbanization, and achieve Happiness for the population, and contributes to increase the capacity of the axis of the night, to reach about 20,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, and contributes to reduce the time of the journey between the seventh intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street, to nearly four minutes.

Al Tayer said: The development of Al Lailis and Al Asayel Street is part of the parallel roads project. The length of Al Lailis Street, which is part of the current project, extends from Sheikh Zayed Road at the 7th intersection to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street at the intersection of the basin. During this phase, the Jebel Ali Industrial Area will be connected to the Jumeirah Islands and Emirates Hills with a length of five kilometers, pointing out that the capacity of Al Asayel Street is 9 thousand vehicles per hour, thus being one of the alternative hubs of Al Khail Street and Sheikh Zayed Road from Business Bay. He added: The project included an increase in the number of lanes on Al Yalais Street, from three lanes to five lanes in each direction from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed and UAE Streets, with a capacity of 20,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. The rest of the connecting lanes to and from the upper intersections on the first and Asayel Streets along the axis of Yalais Street with a total capacity of seven lanes in each direction, to provide traffic to and from the Asayel and First Streets. It took into account the route of the Etihad train project, the first at the intersection of Al Yallis Street with the first Al Khail Street, the second at the intersection of Al Yallis Street with Al Asayel Street, in addition to an overpass to serve the traffic of vehicles coming from Al Asayel Street in the south to Al Yalais Street in the east.

He added: The project also included the completion of the extension of Al Asayel Street, a length of about five kilometers, with a capacity of three lanes in each direction, linking the Jebel Ali Industrial Area, Business Bay area, and during the current phase of the project was provided with a bridge overpass with a capacity of two lanes along Al Asayel Street, along The road will be connected with the free movement bridges exits of Al Furjan Development Project.
