According to foreign media reports, in the near future, HBO will order a pilot episode of yet another prequel to the Game of Thrones series. Representatives of the channel have so far refused to comment on this information.

According to Deadline, the new spin-off will unfold 300 years before the Five Kings War, reflected in the second season of the original series. The plot of the prequel focuses on the formation of the Targaryen dynasty, the ancestors of the heroine of the Game of Thrones Daenerys.

The script of the series is based on George Martin’s novel “Flame and Blood”. The author of the adapted script will be Ryan Kondal, who previously worked on the Rampage tape and the series The Colony. It is noted that work on the script began last fall.

At the same time, sources emphasize: this spin-off will be significantly different from the existing series and its branches already launched into production. The authors of the project plan to use some new approach when recreating the fantasy world of the book.

According to tradition, Martin's blog entries on his personal blog contain tips - and new puzzles - for fans. So, in May, speaking of spin-offs and prequels of the series, the writer hinted:

“What are they talking about? I can not tell. But maybe one of you will buy yourself a copy of the book “Flame and Blood” and come up with your own version. ”

Published in 2018, the work was twice included in the top 10 best sellers of the New York Times, while for the first time it was on the list for three consecutive months. The book tells how the Targaryen dynasty survived the catastrophe called Rock of Valiria and occupied the future Vesterian estate, the Dragon Stone.

The story begins with the story of Eigon the Conqueror, who created the iron throne. The culmination of the plot was the civil war mentioned in the series between the representatives of the dynasty, known as the Dragon Dance.

Westeros: Time Travel

Back in 2017, HBO representatives said they were working on several spin-offs of Game of Thrones.

The action of one of the announced prequels with the unofficial name “Long Night” takes place thousands of years before the events shown in the legendary series. According to foreign media reports, there will not be a direct connection with the plot of Game of Thrones and the prequel.

The title “Long Night,” as the author of a series of books George Martin himself noted, is a working title, since the third episode of the eighth season of Game of Thrones bears a similar title. Martin also likes the longest night.

It is expected that viewers will be shown how Westeros was before the unification of people and the spread of dragons. In addition, according to Martin, the prequel will slightly open the veil of secrecy about the origin of the White Walkers.

Despite the fact that the action will be transferred for thousands of years into the past, fans of the saga recognize the Stark family, familiar from the original series, the descendants of the first people who settled down in the north of Westeros.

“There will definitely be Starks,” Martin said in an interview with Enterntainment Weekly. “Of course, White Walkers will appear there - or Others, as they are called in my books.” There are creatures like lute-wolves and mammoths. ”

As for the Lannisters, by the time of the events of the "Long Night" their family had not yet managed to form. The Lannister clan’s nest, Clusterly’s cliff, is included in the prequel geography - but it will be inhabited by the dynasty by whose name it is named. It is believed that Casterly was evicted from the cliff by the founder of the Lannister house - Lann Clever, but it is not known whether the spin-off will affect this story, the newspaper notes.

Filming of the pilot prequel episode kicked off in Northern Ireland in June. The prequel is staged by the director of Vinyl and Dexter S.J. Clarkson.

It is known that the script for the series was written by Martin himself in collaboration with Jane Goldman ("Miss Peregrine's House of Weird Children"). The project involved Naomi Watts, John Simm, Sheila Atim, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Josh Whitehouse and others. At the end of July, HBO CEO Casey Bloys spoke about the completion of the filming. The premiere date of the spin-off has not yet been specified.
