In "Culture media" on Europe 1, the comedian evokes the piece "Art", by Yasmina Reza, in which he plays at the Antoine theater in Paris, until 27 October.

INTERVIEW

The play Art , by Yasmina Reza, has become a classic. Since 1994, it has been performed all over the world. From September 11 to October 27 at the Antoine theater in Paris, Alain Fromager, Charles Berling and Jean-Pierre Darroussin take on the roles of Marc, Serge and Yvan. Charles Berling was on Europe 1 Friday morning, to evoke this work.

An overpriced monochrome

"Like all big plays, it starts with something real," says Berling. In this case, in the 1990s, Yasmina Reza went to her neighbor's building, a dermatologist, who bought an expensive painting, monochrome. Faced with such an expense of money for a painting like this, she laughs. His neighbor takes the thing well and laughs too. But above all, the author sees there a perfect breeding ground for a play. Except that in Art , the friend owner in question takes very bad reaction of his friend who denigrates his purchase. Then follows a verbal confrontation.

" Art is both sophisticated and very animal"

"For a matter of taste, we can go very far and tear ourselves apart," said Charles Berling. "To see these friends tear up so violently, it causes general hilarity. But we (the characters, ed), we live a drama," he adds. Already on Europe 1, Jean-Pierre Darroussin explained how the play was rhythmic, similar to a boxing match. "It's always a piece that makes the audience completely crazy," says Charles Berling, " Art is both sophisticated and very animal in human relationships."
