Blanche Gardin, Jérôme Commander, Jamel Debbouze and Fabrice Éboué. With Manu Payet, these actors were all competing to get the Molière of humor in 2018. Finally, it is Blanche Gardin who obtained the precious sesame for his show I speak alone . In The Wild Team on Europe 1 Tuesday, Manu Payet looks back on this appointment and highlights how important it has been to him.

"I would have been embarrassed to have it that night"

It is for his show Emmanuel with Manu Payet that the comedian was named in 2018. "It was alongside many people whose work I really like," says the actor. For him, being named "was like a consecration". "I was very happy but I would have been embarrassed to have it that night, I was very happy that it was Blanche who has it," he says.

"To know if I was still funny alone"

This recognition of the profession greeted a very particular approach of Manu Payet. "It's a show I wrote alone, with my little hands, and at a time when I was very unsure," he recalls. "My first show, I wrote it with Philippe Mechelen, he also staged," recalls the humorist. To start alone in writing a show in its entirety was therefore "a challenge" for Manu Payet. "To know if I was still funny alone," he says.
