On September 9, 1996, Junko Kobayashi (21 at that time), a fourth-year student at Sophia University, was stabbed and killed with a knife at his home in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, and his home was set on fire.

The incident was left unsolved for 9 years and 23 years. At the time the incident occurred, his father, Kenji (73), the chief of the Kameari police station, visited the site of his house and turned flowers.

In this incident, while it was raining, a suspicious man in a coat looking at Junko's house without losing an umbrella was witnessed, and the bereaved people were at Shibamata Station, which was often used by Junko. Handed out a leaflet with a call for information.
