The unfinished symphony of DJ Arafat

DJ Arafat, it was the African Idol! For his Ivorian fans, he was their "Michael Jackson" ... and his death on August 12th plunged Ivory Coast into stupor and into a very eventful period of mourning. His burial even resulted in the desecration of his grave: his fans were convinced he was still alive. Reportage on the immoderation that surrounded this king cut-off, a strong personality called "bad boy" by some.

Poland: the fear of the Russians

Poland has just commemorated the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War. About forty foreign delegations were present in Warsaw for these commemorations but a major nation was absent: Russia. The Poles have always kept a mistrust, even a fear towards their Russian neighbor. The Polish border with Belarus and the Russian enclave of Kalinigrad remains a weak point of European defense. The inhabitants of this region, in the north-east of Poland, are on their guard to the point of not excluding a possible attack of Russia.

The tragedy of migrants in the Mediterranean

The Mediterranean has become a great cemetery for those who, driven by desperation, try to reach the European coast. The cap of 900 dead was passed in late August, not counting all those who have sunk in the most complete anonymity. Rescue conditions have become increasingly complicated but some continue to help. This is the case of the crew of Ocean Viking, the new boat of the NGO SOS Mediterranean on which Anne Chaon, journalist at AFP, spent the month of August. Other people are worried about the dead: this is the case of Cristina Cattaneo, Italian medical examiner, who works hard to make an identity to the victims of shipwrecks. And who challenges the European decision makers to seize this mission. Two edifying and upsetting testimonies.

Cristina Cattaneo , medical examiner and author of " Naufragés sans visage. Make a name for the victims of the Mediterranean ", published by Albin Michel

Anne Chaon , AFP journalist and author of many reports aboard the Ocean Viking.

Autistan Travel

Josef Schovanec , philosopher-traveler and autistic sprinkler shares with us his view of the world, a little different ...

While strolling on the island of Lifou, a small paradise island between Vanuatu and New Caledonia, Josef is amazed by the memory of the inhabitants and the strength of the oral tradition. The whole clan of the chiefs remembered perfectly well that he had come to the island 3 years ago. And the information and description of Josef were dutifully provided to the youngest. Hence the great greetings that he has been the subject of this week.
