Hospitality for people with dementia, etc. Cafe opens on a trial basis, Tokyo, Sep 7, 4:10

In September, “World Alzheimer Month”, an effort to expand understanding of dementia was held in various locations, and a cafe that sells homemade sweets became a clerk with people with dementia, etc. Open. A person with dementia who tends to stay at home becomes the store clerk, and the aim is to get in touch with many people.

The cafe named “Wakaba Marche” was created on a trial basis in a nursing facility in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo the other day. It is run by organizations created by welfare schools and nursing care service providers.

Inside the store, donuts handcrafted at facilities for people with disabilities and bags designed by welfare school students were displayed.

A 82-year-old woman with dementia who worked as a store clerk immediately heard an order from a visitor and provided coffee.

The woman worked for a long time in a Western restaurant, but she started her care service about two months ago before her husband. At first, I was taking orders with a slightly tense expression, but as I talked to the customers, I gradually smiled and the shop was filled with laughter.

The woman said, “I was worried about what would happen at first, but while I was waiting for customers, I remembered the past and had a good time.” The organized group said, “When you are diagnosed with dementia, people around you think you have to go home because it ’s dangerous, or your family will help you too much at home. Safety is a priority. Of course, there are many things you can do even if you have dementia. We want you to be able to connect with the confident by interacting with customers at the cafe, and to be able to engage with local people. I was talking.

This cafe is going to be held regularly in the future.
