At the Higashimurayama Junior High School in Tokyo, influenza viruses were detected in several students complaining of symptoms such as fever, and this was the first public school in Tokyo to close the class this season.

The class was closed to a first-year class at Higashimurayama Third Junior High School in Higashimurayama City.

According to the Tokyo Board of Education, of the 33 students enrolled in this class, 9 students were absent on the 2nd, all complaining of symptoms such as fever, headache, and nausea.

The school has closed the school for two days on the 2nd and 3rd days because of the suspicion of a mass infection because influenza viruses have been detected in 6 people in previous hospital examinations.

Class closure due to influenza is the first time in a public school in Tokyo this season.

The Metropolitan Board of Education notifies the municipal board of education to call for thorough measures against influenza, including frequent hand washing.
