In a press release, Prosecutor Daniel Suneson announces that he is prosecuting Cissi Wallin and that he believes this is a serious crime.

- I have decided to prosecute because the scattered statement that the man should have raped the woman is apt to expose him to the disrespect of others and then it is a slander. Because of the large spread and the damage it has caused to the man, it is called for it to be investigated and it is then also a serious crime in my opinion, says Chamber Prosecutor Daniel Suneson in the press release.

The investigation started in March 2018

The columnist, blogger and media profile Cissi Wallin was one of the first in Sweden to accuse a public person of abuse in connection with the #metoo movement.

The preliminary investigation began in January 2018, and the investigation against Wallin started in March 2018. That after the former Aftonbladet journalist Fredrik Virtanen police reported her after she openly accused him of raping her eleven years earlier. The preliminary investigation against Virtanen was closed in 2012.

Virtanen: "Some kind of establishment"

In a brief interview with SVT News on Thursday, Fredrik Virtanen told us that he had known about the message of prosecution for a long time.

- I have known about it for a very long time, but it has dragged on over time. So it's good and can mean some kind of fix, he said.

The trial against Cissi Wallin will take place within a few months.

SVT is seeking prosecutor Daniel Sunesson, Fredrik Virtanen's legal representative Monique Wadsted and Cissi Wallin's legal representative Percy Bratt.
