As usual, the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition has a wide range of arts of all kinds, and in its current session, which concludes today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, art and creative people from different nationalities and different generations and schools are present to spread the joy and color among the visitors of the exhibition.

From the poems of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Emirati calligrapher Mohammed Mandi was inspired by his work at the Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2019 after a period of absence, as his pavilion includes a number of paintings inspired by his poems and sayings His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who describes his relationship with the horse and his pride in it, including verses from the poem he wrote after his horses won in the Dubai World Cup.

Also attending the Mandi Pavilion is a plaque bearing the home of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: “My love for horses is an old love… it is my longing, spirit and comfort”, written by Mandi in Diwani script, using brown color similar to horses, while choosing blue to embody it. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's statement: "Horse runs in my blood .. Horse is my life", in the form of a horse running in what looks like water.

One of the paintings that Mendi cherishes and includes in the pavilion; as the artist explained to «Emirates Today», a painting combining the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, executed by Mandi by writing their names in the third line, He pointed out that the work on the implementation of the painting took a year and a half.

Mohamed Mandi will also present in the pavilion the sketch book he carried out during his study of Arabic calligraphy in Egypt in the seventies of the last century, and samples of UAE banknotes and the UAE passport, as one of the most proud works.

Different schools

This year, the exhibition also witnesses the first participation of the UAE artist Sawsan Khamis, who displays seven paintings made after a long break, and returned when she found the time was right to return.

Khamis told Emirates Today: “I have chosen to return to exhibitions through hunting and equestrianism, which is highly sought after by a multi-tasted audience, and is therefore an important occasion to showcase its work to the people and learn their reactions directly. Through this exhibition, I present myself as the artist, not the director of the free studio at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the exhibition includes many artists who are apprentices in the free studio. ”

She added that «the paintings on display began to draw around the end of 2018, and predominantly golden color, which took the symbol of it with the horseshoe, which was associated in inherited good luck, as I use it in my paintings even if they are not about horses».

Participants in the exhibition «Artist Mary», which participates for the second year, and this year offers paintings to the sheikhs of the UAE (portrait), and vocabulary of the heritage of the homeland, implemented using digital drawing based on computer instead of painting and traditional colors, pointing out that the implementation of a single painting takes what Approximately two weeks, the painting must be taken from an existing image.

Workshops

Within the pavilion of the Committee for the management of festivals and cultural and heritage programs in the exhibition, a corner of the artist Latifa Mohammed, which provides throughout the exhibition art workshops for visitors to learn the steps of drawing portraiture, which depends on the formation in the techniques of color and light on the paintings extended area, and during these workshops the artist performs four paintings for elders Emirates.

The pavilion also features a corner of the artist Abdul Qader Al Saadi, who works with the support of the committee to document the history of Al Nahyan leaders through formative works, drawing inspiration from old and modern images that convey to the new generations the achievements of their leaders through the ages.

Japanese creations

This year's Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition will feature a wide participation from Japan, which will participate in a pavilion of 55 artists, in addition to 10 performers such as singing, expressive dancing and performances derived from Japan's heritage.

The Japanese pavilion includes several platforms that showcase Japanese products such as antiques, accessories and abayas that combine traditional UAE abayas with the well-known Japanese kimono, as well as their traditional arts, such as origami, furshiki and Japanese calligraphy.

The pavilion in the middle of the pavilion offers a variety of performances throughout the day, ranging from traditional singing to performances that highlight Japan's ancient martial arts, as well as folk dances.
