Last year, there were 1641 child accidents at childcare facilities nationwide, and 9 of them were found dead. Most deaths occur during sleep, and the Cabinet Office calls for thorough measures to prevent accidents.

According to the Cabinet Office, there were 1641 child accidents that occurred in childcare facilities and after-school children's clubs nationwide last year, of which 9 died.

The number of places where fatal accidents occurred was the largest number of non-authorized childcare facilities with 6 people, followed by 2 authorized childcare facilities and 1 homecare facility at home.

By age group, 0 years and 1 year were 4 persons each, and 6 years were 1 person.

Also, 8 of the 9 people who died were sleeping.

The Cabinet Office is calling for thorough measures to prevent accidents, such as when there are many reasons for fatalities during sleep, and if there is no particular reason to lay a child, do not leave it alone.
