Nankai Electric Railway "Rapit" August 27th 17:56

It was found that a crack was found in the bogie of the vehicle at Nankai Electric Express's “Rapit”, and a crack was found in the bogie of another vehicle as well. The National Transportation Safety Committee is examining the trouble situation in detail.

The problem was that a crack of about 14 cm was found in the vicinity of the motor of the fifth bogie of the 6-car limited express "Rapit" that runs between Osaka City and Kansai Airport, which was operated on the 23rd of this month.

In response, Nankai Electric Railway conducted an emergency inspection of all “Rapit” vehicles during the three days up to the 26th.

As a result, a crack of less than 10 centimeters in length was found on another vehicle's carriage.

According to the trouble that was discovered this time, even after the conductor of “Rapit” confirmed an abnormal noise, it was found that the car continued to run for more than 250 kilometers between Osaka and Kansai Airport.

The National Transportation Safety Committee dispatched two investigators on the 27th to report a serious incident that could lead to an accident.

The investigator interviewed Nankai Electric Railway's headquarters in Osaka and the vehicle base where the vehicle in question was brought in, and interviewed people concerned and confirmed the trolley where the crack was found. The Transportation Safety Committee will continue to investigate the cause of trouble.

According to Nankai Electric Railway, “Rapit” uses vehicles that have been confirmed to be safe, so there are no problems with operation.
