Ten years ago - on August 27, 2009 - the writer, poet, screenwriter and playwright Sergei Mikhalkov passed away. He became interested in literature in his school years: then the future writer published his own magazine for homework. Mikhalkov began to publish at the age of 15, and in 1936, when the poet was only 23 years old, his poem Uncle Styopa was published as a separate book. Sergei Mikhalkov also wrote for adults, but became famous precisely as a classic of children's literature. Animated films and feature films were filmed according to his scripts. In 1943, Mikhalkov was instructed to write the words of the USSR anthem, and in 2000 he worked on the new anthem of Russia. Mikhalkov was awarded many awards and prizes, including the title of Hero of Socialist Labor and Honored Artist of the RSFSR.
