Astronomers ruled out the existence of extraterrestrials or life forms on a whole class of exoplanets. If these planets contain an atmosphere suitable for life, the two temperatures will mix together and produce a medium temperature. But that does not happen, so the researchers who concluded the study concluded that high-temperature rocky planets, such as LHS 3844B, do not have this atmosphere and do not support life.
"Life, as we know it, requires liquid water," Abraham Loeb, an astronomer at the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard University and the Symthonian Institute, told the Scientific American Journal. In order for the water to retain its liquid state, it needs an atmosphere. ”

This is bad news for scientists who have wasted a lot of time searching for extraterrestrials on this class of planets, but in the long run it will help them narrow the search.

Laura Creedberg, an astronomer at Harvard University who participated in the study, said she remains optimistic about these planets, because the factors that make up or destroy atmospheres outside the solar system are still not understood, and will continue to do so until the James Webb telescope begins to operate. "If you are an alien who looks at our solar system and sees Mercury, you will lose hope of living beings on these planets."
