The South African duo Die Antwoord has been removed from the cartel by the organization of two American festivals after a video recorded in Adelaide (Australia) came to light in 2012, which shows how its two components, ¥ o-landi and Ninja, attack and call Andy Butler the man behind the Hercules & Love Affair project.

Although, for the moment, the rest of the scheduled dates on the American tour of the controversial South African group remain, the organization of Live is beautiful (Las Vegas) and Louder than Life (Kentucky), has canceled the presence of Die Antwoord. In the video, which has been removed from YouTube, you can see how ¥ o-landi, the female half of the duo, tries to accuse Butler of an alleged sexual attack. It is also seen how the brain of Hercules & Love Affair is chased by Ninja (the male half) between aggressions and homophobic screams (Butler is openly homosexual and in his projects he has had the collaboration of numerous 'queer' and 'trans' artists, like Antony / Anohni ), like "Run, fag!"

It is not the first controversy surrounding Die Antwoord, which became known a decade ago for its disturbing iconography, which represents the South African white subculture 'zef' and which manifests itself in shocking video clips and threatening 'looks'.

After unleashing the controversy, Ninja has issued a statement in which he denies having committed any "hate crime" and in which he accuses the camera that accompanied them, Ben Crossman, of editing and falsifying it for spurious purposes: "Ben has skilfully edited this video to make it look like ¥ o-landi and I committed a hate crime towards a person because he is homosexual. However, Ben hit the same type of Hercules & Love Affair while filming this same video "..

"This was just a fight with someone who screwed us up. It's not a hate crime. It had nothing to do with the fact that this guy is gay. We don't care about people's sexual preferences. Our DJ and best friend HITEK he is gay , and many people on our team are, "the text continues.

"But if a person (no matter what their sexual preference)," Ninja denounces, "he continues to harass us again and again, if he physically harasses ¥ o-landi, there will obviously be repercussions."

Crossman, Ninja continues, "has been orchestrating this to make us look bad in the media because we fired him years ago, for being mentally unstable and a threat to our family." After which he explains that, during an Australian tour at the Big Day Out festival, Butler approached them and, asking him to leave them alone in his "private time", had an aggressive response ("I should hit you with my cock in the face " ) and began harassing them in the rest of the joint tour, until finally, according to Ninja, the Adelaide incident came, in which Butler prevented ¥ o-landi from leaving the restrooms.

"In the end, we are kind people with good hearts who make surrealist art and 'hardcore-rap' music. We do not look for problems and we believe in love, respect and equality. But if you fuck us, we will stop your feet," ends the release.
