The 12-minute film focuses on the relationship between the bride of the son and his mother. The main role in the film is played by Svetlana Kamynina (“Interns”). Her heroine, a professional sapper, arrives at her son’s house (Ivan Mulin) on the case: the young man’s bride (Evgenia Vays) sat down on a mine with a clockwork.

The award for the best script was received by the duet of Andrei Bulatov and Ekaterina Mikhailova - they wrote a script for the film "Robbery at a Tariff." In the story, the heroes of the short film that robbed the bank are trying to hide from the police in a taxi.

The festival’s special prize “For Honesty and Talent” went to Anton Mamykin’s film “White on Black”. The jury diplomas also received paintings by Irina Khodyush “Game” and Aksinya Gog “Exchange”. The best cinematography, according to the jury, was demonstrated by the creators of the Incognito tape (operator - Mark Kelim).

This year, 37 short films claimed the main prize of the film festival. By tradition, the jury of the marathon was headed by the head of the Profit studio, producer Igor Tolstunov. The commission also included writer and screenwriter Alexander Tsypkin and actors Pavel Derevyanko and Victoria Isakova.

Star Short

More than a hundred films were presented in the non-competitive program of the festival. Among them are the work of both debutants and experienced filmmakers. Actresses Paulina Andreeva and Maria Fomina, as well as screenwriter for the TV series Treason, Daria Gracevich, showed their directorial work.

At the Kinotavr held in June, Andreeva already received a jury diploma “For accurate color reproduction of black in comedy” for the short film “I’m crying with you”. The main character of the film, Mitya, earns in a very interesting way: he cries professionally at a funeral. Despite a misunderstanding on the part of loved ones, Mitya believes that his work is a blessing and in some way a humanistic mission. The views of the hero change when his loved one dies.

“Farewell” is the second short work of the actress and director Maria Fomina (“Container”). The film with Anna Chipovskaya and Yegor Koreshkov starring addresses the problem of misunderstanding between people.

Debuted in the role of the director at the festival and actor Sergei Bataev ("Legends of the Circle"). In Kaliningrad, he presented the tape "Old warrior." The film tells the story of the life of World War I veteran Yegor Kuzmich, his daughter and his grandson. From the battles of the Great Patriotic War, the sons of Kuzmich did not return, but the old soldier did not lose his fighting spirit. In the picture, his last role (Yegor Kuzmich) was played by Vladimir Etush.

A trip to the big movie

The Russian Short Film Festival “In Short” has been held since 2013. The selection conditions for films are strict: only from three to 15 minutes, the premieres are in priority. Films must be shot by Russian directors or companies, works from foreign participants are accepted exclusively in Russian.

Previously, the jury evaluated the paintings in three categories - the best film, the best script and the best direction, but in 2019, an award for the best cameraman also appeared.

For young figures of Russian cinema, the festival in Kaliningrad was a chance to show their work to eminent actors and directors, and for the jury and representatives of the industry - to see new talents. The members of the Board of Trustees of the festival are directors Valery Todorovsky, Sergey Selyanov and Fedor Bondarchuk. Over the years, the jury consisted of actress and director Renata Litvinova, actor Vladimir Vdovichenkov, writer and screenwriter Yevgeny Grishkovets, as well as the general director of CTC Media, Vyacheslav Murugov.

Some participants and laureates of the festival really began their journey into the big cinema here. So, in 2015, Alexey Nuzhny received the prize of the festival “In short” for the best script, and today in his filmography - “New Fir-trees”, “I am losing weight” and the Russian remake of the Italian comedy “Ideal Strangers” - “Handsfree” with participants of the Quartet And ”starring. Nuzhny also shot the first seasons of the TV series Olga and Tolya Robot on TNT. Director Masha Vasyukova, whose film opened the first festival in 2013, worked with Oscar winner Natalie Portman.
