Farewell ceremony took place north-east of Reykjavik with the melted 700-year-old Okyokyudl glacier. The "funeral" was attended by local residents and activists, as well as the Prime Minister of Iceland, Catherine Jacobsdouttir. In 2014, Okyökull was declared the first "dead" glacier in the country. In memory of him, activists erected a memorial tablet.
