You can attack me now. What a shame for Hong Kong, ”claims of boycott of the film surfaced on social media banned in China, reports the site NME.

The hashtag #BoycottMulan has been trending on Twitter, which is banned in China, throughout Friday. Liu Yifei has received harsh criticism; many have pointed out, among other things, that she is an American citizen and therefore lives "protected" unlike many Chinese and Hong Kong residents.

At Weibo, she has instead received great support and praise for her support to the police, reports CNN.
