The Eid session with your family, relatives and friends is enough to discover the extent of myths spread in their conversations, which they transmit in tongues without verifying their authenticity, or those they draw from the stomachs of self-development nonsense books, an area from which we previously wrote, and mentioned that it is fertile for fraudsters and swindlers.

I believe that self-development stems from psychology, needs a big change in behavior, personality and ideas, and I never believe that one needs a prosecutor who calls himself a “life coach”. During the Eid session, a teenager can barely grow up to tell him: you need 21 days to change your character or acquire a new habit. He then goes on to mention his own experience, having read one of the myths published in the self-development books on the bookshelves.

This teenager read the myth and sincerity, because he wanted to believe it and tried it and forced himself to adapt to his new habit, to come to the councils and boast of them, not because it has acquired a new habit. I tried nonsense 21 days at the beginning of the year, and after entering the fourth week, and the 25th day, I discovered that I did not want to continue, which means that I was forced myself to accept it, and I did not accept it, and this is my nature.

I realized then the theoretical error, and when I looked at her origin, she found that the origin is that plastic surgeon Maxwell Maltz, in the fifties noticed that after a plastic surgery for a person, the person needs at least 21 days to accept its new form, and published Maltz in a book sold more than 30 million copies.

This is where the problem began, because Western self-development prosecutors copied the information, and at least deleted it. Then it was transmitted by people, and turned from a scientific fact to a myth. In fact, you need between 66 and 250 days, according to psychologists, to acquire a new habit.

Like the myth that you need eight hours of sleep a day, it is widespread from the 19th century, when the day was divided into three sections: eight working hours, eight for you, eight for sleep = 24 hours. The truth is that every person sleeps as much as he needs, and personally averaged is six and a half hours. If I pass it I feel pain in my back. I know who is content with five hours of sleep and is healthy.

Not to mention the myth that you need at least eight glasses of water a day. The amount of water the body needs depends on the person's weight on the one hand, and the physical effort exerted daily. The eight-cup law is a suggestion from health experts, because it is easy to remember for every person, not because every human need this amount. There is an opinion says drink until you quench your thirst, regardless of quantity.

During my summer vacation, I tried isolation in nature, in Scotland, on the advice of parents. The area was isolated and not covered by the mobile network. I felt very depressed, and I was in a prison, so I ran away and went back to the bustle of the city, mixing with people before completing 24 hours.

Sometimes the bustle of the city is the cure, not nature! Remember that before you buy myths of self-development, especially Arabic ones!

I tried nonsense 21 days at the beginning of the year, and after entering the fourth week and the 25th day I discovered that I didn't want to continue.
