Israel will finally allow Rashida Tlaib's visit. After his entry into Israeli territory was initially denied, the Interior Minister, Arié Dery, finally announced Friday, August 16, that the visit to Israel Rashida Tlaib will be authorized for "humanitarian".

Rashida Tlaib is the first Palestinian-born woman elected to the US Congress. Israeli territory is the gateway to reach the Palestinian territories.

The BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement calls for Israel's economic, cultural or scientific boycott to protest the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

In 2017, Israel passed a law banning entry to BDS supporters, whom it denounced as anti-Semitic. Charges they refute.

In order to visit her family, Rashida Tlaib wrote to the Israeli authorities on the night of Thursday to Friday, asking them to see her family, especially her grandmother, who lives in the village of Beit Ur al-Fauqa, near Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.

"It could be my last chance to visit him," said the US woman in her letter posted online.

"I pledge to respect all restrictions and not to promote the boycott of Israel during my visit," continues the short text in English.
