A small Polish village with a population of no more than 300 people faces a problem that threatens its existence: all its babies born since 2010 are female.

It is difficult for this village, for example, the volunteer squad of the fire brigade, under training, are girls. With more girls in the village being trained from a young age on tasks traditionally performed by men in the Polish countryside, Maja Golz, the youngest member of the village fire brigade under training, is only two and a half years old. Her mother told Reuters her husband Her father was a firefighter in the village, and her daughter would work in the same field when she grew up.

"There are no boys to train, so girls have to do those tasks," said one volunteer on the fire brigade.

The lack of men did not prevent them from achieving their goals in life. "One of my dreams is of course to find a husband, but the basic dream is to get a new fire engine," said Sabina Plama, a teenage volunteer on the team.
