“Kokeshi” x “Chess” = “Kokesu” World Tournament held in Aomori Prefecture on August 13 at 15:13

The “Kokesu” world tournament was held in Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture on the 11th, playing like the chess piece of the “Tsugaru Kokeshi” that has been handed down in the Tsugaru region of Aomori Prefecture.

“Kokesu” was devised by a local high school to get familiar with “Tsugaru Kokeshi”, one of the traditional cultures of the Tsugaru region. Play as a chess piece.

25 people from Tokyo and other countries participated in the “Kokesu” world tournament held at a tourist facility in Kuroishi City, and competed in the lower and upper grades and the general division.

In the lower grades, first-year students at Toei Elementary School in Kuroishi City, Shimitsu Sasaki, won the first victory for the first time, and received great applause.

Sasaki Shimitsu-kun said, “I'm glad to win. I think Kokesu should have a face on the piece.”
