Houthi militias on Friday admitted killing the leader Ibrahim Badr al-Din al-Houthi, brother of rebel leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

The Interior Ministry in the Houthi coup government issued a statement calling the leader Ibrahim al-Houthi, who was killed by an assassination, as described.

While the statement did not give further details about the circumstances of his death, the ministry stressed that "it will not hesitate to prosecute and seize the tools of criminal aggression that carried out the assassination."

Tribal sources said that the brother of Houthi militia leader may have been killed two days ago by an armed ambush that targeted his motorcade at the northern entrance of Sanaa.

The sources pointed out that the gunmen carried out the assassination in a lightning operation and fled, but he did not know the identity of the dead, while the data indicate that he was a senior leader after the presence of intensive Houthi militias to the region and spread.
