A class for senior citizens to experience the latest safety technology August 7, 19:57

In order to prevent accidents of a series of older drivers, a workshop was held for senior citizens to experience the latest safety technologies such as automatic braking.

The workshop was held by an automobile sales company in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo and a local credit union, with approximately 20 elderly people participating.

Participants took a car equipped with the latest safety technology and experienced the function that the car detects an obstacle ahead and stops with automatic braking.

In addition, I actually experienced the function of preventing the sudden start by accidentally stepping on the brake and accelerator by stepping on the accelerator.

A 70-year-old woman who participated said, “I was surprised to learn about the new safety function. I am grateful that this function is available because I am less sensitive than I was in the past.”

Automakers are working on the development of new vehicles equipped with safety functions, and are also focusing on the development and sale of safety devices that can be installed later on vehicles that have already been sold to prevent sudden starts.
