Shiite Huthi militiamen fired a missile and launched a drone attack against a military parade in Aden, the main city in southern Yemen and seat of the government backed by Saudi Arabia, Thursday (August 1st). A Reuters journalist has documented the bodies of nine victims on the ground after the explosion, which occurred in a military camp supported by the UAE, members of the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis. A pro-government military source said a member of the staff was killed in the attack.

The attack killed at least 20 people, according to a security source. Dozens of wounded were sent to Aden hospital "after an explosion in the area," tweeted the NGO Doctors Without Borders.

"The blast occurred behind the podium on which the ceremony was taking place at the Al-Jalaa military camp in Aden's Buryaq district," the Reuters reporter said.

The attack on the Al-Jalaa barracks was led by a missile and a drone, according to sources from the Yemeni security services and the Al-Massirah TV channel from the Houthi rebels.

Al Massirah added that the parade "was to be used to prepare an offensive against Taez and Dalea", two provinces held by Shiite rebels, the television channel added.

Another attack occurred Thursday in another area of ​​Aden where the explosion of a car bomb killed three soldiers in a police station.
