The workshop, entitled "Introduction to the Film Industry", was organized by seven of the most promising students interested in film and media, aged between 15 and 18, and presented by Emirati film director Nawaf Al-Janahi.

The workshop participants learned about the basics of filmmaking, cinematography, storytelling and human experience through the camera. They also learned about the history of the seventh art and had the opportunity to apply what they learned through a series of practical exercises in shooting and editing scenes.

The workshop was presented by UAE film actor and director Nawaf Al-Janahi, who described critics as his first feature film, "The Circle", as "a fundamental turning point in the history of the UAE and Gulf film industry." His second feature film, "The Shadow of the Sea," reached number two in the UAE's top five films and went on a tour to 27 countries around the world, the most exclusive feature of a long Emirati film to date. In addition to filmmaking, Al Janahi has established a number of initiatives, notably the UAE Film Campaign and the Black Box Cinema.
