From receipt of goods to order preparation, Steven Malle handles pallets, forklifts, packaging and slips.

A skull cap screwed on the skull, retro reflective clothing, gloves and protective shoes. Steven Malle, 26, is one of those men in orange who crisscross the lines of pallets at the back of the store. At the agency Point. P Caen (Calvados), they are six store-car drivers out of eighteen employees. The company specializes in the trading of building materials and decoration.

"After the 3rd and a CAP remover, I worked three years in the factory to unload trucks," says Steven. I dreamed of driving a trolley, so I spent a CAP Storage Agent and courier at AFT-Iftim (today Aftral) in Caen. He does an internship at Point. P Bayeux, returned to interim six months in Bayeux and a month in Caen. In February 2016, he signed a CDI store-driver. Goal achieved.

"Skillful and vigilant"

All day, Steven works at the reception and the exit of the products. "I get trucks of materials arriving at the store. I unload, control delivery, condition and store each item in its deposit area. Before you go the other way, with a purchase order. "I will pick up the ordered items, prepare the pallets, pack and load the customer's truck. In between entries and exits, Steven proceeds with the inventory and "zoning": each product is listed in the warehouse and in the point-of-sale computer system.

To transport these heavy and sometimes fragile materials, Steven learned to fly a forklift . "I passed the driver's license, or Caces (Certificate of Fitness to Safe Driving) in categories 3 and 5. The first at school and the second with the company. In the yard, the fast ballet of these small machines, which weigh up to 3.5 tons, is impressive. "You have to be clever and vigilant," says Steven.

It remains in spite of everything a lot of manual handling, hardly relieved by the devils and trolleys of supermarket. "In this business, you have to wear," says the rugby-rugged young man. The training "gestures and postures", to spare the body, is also one of the first provided by Point. P to his new employees. In a few years, Steven would like to evolve as a "chef de cour" to manage the team of storekeepers. And if the activity becomes too trying, go behind the counter.
