At the approach of All Saints, the funeral sector innovates. France Tombale has just arrived on the market and offers Monukéa. A funeral monument kit to build yourself in the cemetery.

77% of French people consider themselves DIYers in 2017 *. Starting from this observation, the founders of France Tombale said to themselves: "The French would not they be ready to mount the monument of a loved one themselves? " Two months ago, Toulouse entrepreneurs launched Monukéa. A range of kitable tombstones on the internet. Rather than a professional laying the funerary monument, individuals roll up their sleeves. "They save the price of the installation, about 700 €," says Jérémy Dols, co-founder.

In spare parts

Imagined with his partner Laurent Pradies, Monukéa arrives in spare parts at the customer. It is delivered on a pallet. And no need for lifting gear to mount it. That's the secret. The monument is in granite but as the tombstone is broken up and the stele cut, the blocks are handled by two. And, just fit them.

"The pieces weigh up to 80 kg" . With the package, a mounting kit containing a paper mounting instructions, a silicone tube, anchors and brackets is delivered. The individual arrives at the graveyard with a level, a hammer, a clamp and elbow grease. "People are able to set up a kitchen, why not a funerary monument? "

A declaration in the town hall

This innovation could disturb the tranquility of a cemetery. "I think a family is even more concerned than a professional poser to build a monument of a loved one" , defuses Jérémy Dols.

Before the installation of the monument, a declaration of work must be made in town hall. "We accompany our clients in administrative and technical procedures," promises the 36-year-old entrepreneur.

In tribute to their father

To pay tribute to their father, who died in January, Laurent N. and his brother bought a Monukéa monument. "All his life, our father who worked in the building, helped us to tinker. We thought it was our turn to do something for him . " Whoever defines himself as a handyman, has saved 25% on his bill. "It is not the economic argument that convinced me but to be able to mount the monument myself" . His brother had to "go to work for two hours in a cemetery," recognizes Lawrence.

France Tombale sells all its funeral items online. The average basket on the site 2 500 € TTC. Jérémy Dols defends himself "to make the discount but a fair price in a sector often considered opaque by the customers" . He works mainly with the granite Bonnéry which shapes the gray of Tarn, a French granite. The boss Patrice Bonnéry, finds the idea "brilliant" . "I think it will work because we touch the wallet of the French . " The first prize of a Monukéa: € 1,790. In two months, a dozen DIY customers bought a funerary monument kit. Fashion effect or real change in the sector? Only the future will tell.
