“What other revolution? Don't you see, we are going to baseball! ”- this was how the residents of Caracas answered questions of journalists on Wednesday. They had no time for politics: the fate of the Cup of professional teams was decided. Venezuelans are more interested in baseball than football, and the second game of the Leones team in the capital with their rival Cardinles de Lara from Barquisimeto completely overshadowed the coup attempt in their eyes.

Well, not quite: the game was supposed to start at seven, and on the occasion of the attempted coup, it began at nine. The situation continues to be alarming, but we can already say: the promised apocalypse did not happen.

Only the Air Force furiously spun its flywheel, claiming that all the people of Venezuela took to the streets and squares to drive away their newly elected President Maduro.

But remember - several years ago it was reported that Syrian President Asad fled on a private plane from Damascus to Venezuela, and he still rules. So now, even if the Air Force declares that Venezuelan President Maduro has fled to Damascus, you need not worry too much.

Previously, Air Force journalists wrote about what is. But nowadays they write about what should be. And there must be a popular uprising, overthrowing the president of Venezuela, a friend of Russia, to whom in December two Tu-160 strategic bomber of the Russian Federation Air Force flew to Moscow from Moscow. Therefore, the British persistently report on insurgent crowds, although the city is relatively calm. God knows, if it were not for baseball, perhaps they would have rocked the people in the unrest, but the Anglo-Saxons buzzed the bells without looking at the holy calendar, I mean, in the baseball Cup schedule. And so - all by.

The crisis in Venezuela escalated after President Nicolas Maduro won the election and on January 10 entered into his second term. The United States wanted to regain Venezuela - a rich country with huge oil reserves.

At their signal, the youthful Speaker of the dissolved parliament, Juan Guaido, proclaimed himself president and called on the people to take to the streets and support him. President Trump immediately recognized the self-styled "president", and was followed by the head of the OAS and the presidents of Argentina, Brazil, Peru - the most right-wing and pro-American rulers on the continent, who are called Uncle Sam's backyard. Mexico, Cuba and Bolivia supported the legitimate president Maduro. Canada and Donald Tusk, a fiercely anti-Russian Pole, head of the European Council, sided with the US and the impostor. Russia and China took the side of Maduro.

The Venezuelan Constitutional Court ruled that the Speaker of Parliament, and the Parliament as a whole, do not have such powers. The court urged the prosecutor's office to take up the rebels, and they tried to organize a coup.

Remembering that the “orange revolutions” are only in those countries where there is an American embassy, Maduro terminated diplomatic relations with the United States and suggested that they get out of the way in 72 hours. But Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said: “We’re not going anywhere. We do not recognize Maduro, and, accordingly, his decision to expel our diplomats is not for us. ”

Thus, in Venezuela, an unexpected situation develops - diplomats who are subject to expulsion do not want to leave and turned their embassy into a rebellion headquarters.

For some reason, Trump does not fear that his opponents will take advantage of his plan: proclaim it illegal and put Ms. Clinton, or Ms. Pelosi, Congress Speaker, or some other Trump opponent, as US President.

Now it seems unlikely, because the Democrats in Congress unanimously (almost) supported Trump. These liberals for intervention always support war and intervention — be it Syria or Venezuela.

But the precedent is dangerous - and for Trump, and for other countries. Why hold an election, if after the election, the United States can appoint the president of whoever they want, and then still not remove its embassy? What will prevent them from recognizing tomorrow, say, Khodorkovsky as president of Russia?

The conflict between the president and parliament can remind our reader of 1993, only the other way around - in Russia, the United States supported the biased president against the legitimate parliament, and in Venezuela, the United States supported the dissolved parliament against the legitimate president. In 2015, the pro-American opposition declared that it won the parliamentary elections, but the Constitutional Court decided that they won unfairly and decided to hold re-elections. Parliament declared the court illegal.

To streamline the situation, President Maduro convened a Constitutional Assembly, and she dissolved the parliament. But parliament dissolved everyone and - in the manner of a revolutionary convention - decided to take power. They did not succeed in this: the people and the army did not support it. Meanwhile, new presidential elections were held, and Maduro supporters won. Now the parliament does not want to disperse and dreams of overthrowing Maduro.

Much depends on the army. The United States called on the army to intervene and support their protege, but so far the army supports the legitimate president. Maduro managed to win support for the army. And the people, although they are dissatisfied with the economic situation, terrible inflation, the fall of the national currency, the continuous deficit, blame the right pro-American opposition for their troubles and do not go out into the streets in protest.

The right-wing opposition relies on the rich, on foreign companies. As in Russia since the time of Gorbachev, they artificially create a deficit. US sanctions also exacerbate the situation. The people understand this, but they condemn the president for lack of determination. The government of Maduro has a lot of local Chubais and Gaidar, who sabotage the work and thwart all the plans of the president to rectify the situation. But they haven’t succeeded in convening a Maidan - huge crowds demanding the removal of the president exist only in the news of the Air Force.

There is a real danger of intervention: the US can send troops to Venezuela its Latin American henchmen. Can Russia help Venezuela to protect law and order? While such a request has not been received. Much closer to Venezuela is Cuba, which supports the legitimate president. But if necessary, Russia will certainly be able to help with logistics.

Russia and Venezuela are joined by business relations and bonds of friendship. And Russia constantly and everywhere stands on the side of the law - against impostors, against "Maidan", against the coups organized by the American embassies.

On the basis of this principle of legitimacy, Russia supported the legitimate US President Abraham Lincoln against the southerners of the rebels. And now supports the legitimate president of Venezuela. The main demand of Russia is to the United States: to stop interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign Venezuela.
