The verdict was heard in the trial of Jean-Claude Arnault. A Stockholm court sentenced the 72-year-old to rape for a two-year prison sentence. The abuse scandal rocked the Swedish Academy, which awards the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The convict is married to Katarina Frostenson, ex-member of the panel. According to a report in the newspaper "Svenska Dagbladet", a total of 18 women allegedly accuse the French of sexual assault.

In court, however, only the case of a woman was negotiating, said to have been raped by Arnault. He denied the allegations. The accused was guilty of rape on the night of 5 to 6 October 2011, a court in Stockholm ruled.
