Doctors president Frank Ulrich Montgomery has demanded more doctors for clinics in Germany. Similar to nurses, there should also be a lower staff limit for doctors in clinics, said Montgomery of the "Rheinische Post".

"I do not understand why nurses and doctors are treated differently in the question of the lower staff limit," said the president. He pointed out that in the hospitals nationwide about 5000 jobs for doctors are unoccupied.

"The workload is extremely high for both nurses and doctors in the hospital," said Montgomery. In both occupational groups there are high burnout rates. The work density in the hospitals could only be compensated by more personnel.

Montgomery also reiterated his demand for more medical study places: "We need around 1,000 additional study places per year." This need has been around for some time. "It is a fundamental evil that the countries do not sufficiently meet their financing obligations," said the medical president.
