An escaped water buffalo has been hit by a car in Hesse. People did not get hurt in the accident.

According to the police, a 57-year-old woman was driving her car on federal highway 275 near Florstadt in the Wetterau district on Tuesday evening, when suddenly a black water buffalo ran onto the road. The woman could not avoid the 400-pound animal. "It came to a collision, where the buffalo over the hood hit the windshield," said the police.

The bovine was reportedly injured on shoulder and legs. The forces were able to identify the owner of the water buffalo. "Brav the buffalo trotted off next to the patrol car, in the direction of his native farm," it said in a police message.

Apart from the injured cattle, two more animals from the herd were outgrown. They returned alone to their stable in the morning, according to the police.
