Oh, super summer! Luckily, we're not done with you for a long time, even though the official holiday season is over. "The season is up to the end of October," says Dominik Schlemmer, co-operator of the newly opened 360-degree bar on Fehmarn two years ago. He is one of a total of five creators on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast, who ensure that the region is becoming more casual and popular.

SPIEGEL ONLINE have betrayed them, where they prefer to stick their feet in the sand, watch the sun go down, find silence in the summer crowds, go out to eat and what they like to pay admission to.

Favorite places on the Baltic Sea

Tips for: Neustadt, Rettin, Pelzerhaken, Hohwachter Bay
By: Martina Schnoor, owner of the restaurant Strandliebe in Rettin.
Favorite beach : The natural beach of Rettin and Brodau with the bizarre cliffs. Anyone traveling with their four-legged friend will be happy at the dog beach in Sehlendorf.
Sundowner: My husband and I disagree. He prefers sitting in the popular beach lounge in Scharbeutz. I prefer to pack my own picnic and sit in Pelzerhaken, on the only south beach in the Bay of Lübeck, in the sand.

Stop in: If we feel like really good food, we drive to Bad Schwartau to our favorite Italian Gambero.
Also on Gut Panker in Holstein Switzerland you can eat very well: in the forest house Hessenstein or - upscale - in Ole Liese.

Excursion: The small town of Neustadt in Holstein is absolutely worth seeing - especially at the two weekly market days Tuesday and Friday. At the cheese stand you get delicious raw milk cheese - perfect for a beach picnic. A good place to watch the market go is Café Thienemann. There are very good, homemade cakes. The fjord harbor is also very nice.
Watch : In the Museum Zeittor, history was literally made to touch and very modern. Even kids will find it great there.

Tips for: Timmendorfer beach and surroundings
By: Marion Muller, owner of the Hotel Sand in Timmendorfer Strand.
Favorite beach : The long sandy beach from Brodtener steep bank. The atmospheric, small lounge parties in the beach club are great. If you do not want to go home to sleep, you can stay at the Niendorfer Strand very idyllically in a sleeping beach chair.

Excursion: The nature reserve Aalbeek lowland is my insider tip. If you like urban life, take the excursion boat to Lübeck. There I recommend to stay on the water and rent a small electric boat at Boat Now. A boating license is not necessary. From the water you can see the city from a very special perspective.

Against hunger: A fish sandwich in the Niendorf harbor. My favorite: Fried herring with onions.

Promenade: I like the upscale, but not uplifted atmosphere in Timmendorfer Strand. I very much like to buy swimwear at La Caramella.

Tips for Heiligenhafen and surroundings
From: Katrin Jung, director of the Hotel Bretterbude in Heiligenhafen.
Favorite beach : My favorite is the quiet and not crowded beach in Danzendorf between Oldenburg in Holstein and Heiligenhafen. Sitting there with a bottle of wine in the evening is beautiful. The beach on the grass warder at the very back of the beach villas is also great.

Excursions and action: Directly at the harbor of Heiligenhafen several sailors start daily for a trip in the Fehmarnsund. Those who like it faster should head for the Baltic Pirates in the speedboat at Graswarder or at full speed to a Fehmarn circumnavigation. Equipment for stand-up paddling is available directly from us or in the Saltwater Shop on the promenade of Heiligenhafen.
For families: In the Galileo world of knowledge, young and old can discover, experiment and marvel a lot.

Tips for Flensburg and the surrounding area
From: Wiebke-Sophie Volquardsen, owner of the Ostseecamp Glücksburg-Holnis and the hotel Baltic Sea beach house Glücksburg-Holnis on the peninsula of the same name.
Favorite beach : Even in the summer season, the beach life is comparatively quiet with us on the peninsula. From the beach café you can start a wonderful walk around Holnis. You pass the cliffs, blackberry hedges and see Galloway cattle grazing. Even birders will be very happy here.

Excursions: Flensburg with the idyllic city center and the old merchant's stables you should definitely look. If you want to spend a warm evening at the Nordermarkt, the atmosphere is almost Mediterranean. And of course you should also go to Denmark. Sønderborg is a delightful harbor town. Even the way there along the fjord is very nice.
Stop in: If I really want to eat good fish, I go to Nobus in Glücksburg. The best fish roll is in Langballig at the Odin fisherman.

Tips for Fehmarn
By: Dominik Schlemmer, who runs the 360 degree bar on Fehmarn together with Kathrin Jugl and Dirk Muschenich.
Favorite beach : The south beach. The best place to watch the sun go down at the end of the day with a caipi in the hand is the Cáfe carefree.

Stop off: A real favorite is the Aalkate in Lemkenhafen. The smoked prawns with garlic and bread are sensational. A must for anyone who likes to eat duck is a visit to Netti's.

For cooler days: a visit to the Fehmare swimming pool.
