As a motive of the two perpetrators from Syria and Lebanon, the chamber called a "misunderstood notion of honor": After the knife attack on a 17-year-old, the husband and the brother of the young woman from the district court of Ravensburg have been sentenced to prison terms.

The young Muslim man's husband is sentenced to six years and nine months in prison. The 20-year-old brother was sentenced to juvenile justice for seven and a half years in a social-therapeutic institution. The two were guilty of attempted murder and dangerous assault, judges ruled. The prosecutor had spoken at the beginning of the trial of a "low motives" attack.

Father invoked the Sharia

Background of the attack was, according to the presiding judge, a dispute over an extra-marital relationship of the victim. Alaa W., who was pregnant at the time, was almost killed at the end of February with several cuts and cuts in her parents' home in Laupheim near Biberach. Both men had fled after the incident and were arrested in a train at the train station in Schweinfurt.

The victim's father and mother were also convicted of the attack. They received a suspended sentence of one year and ten months each for dangerous bodily injury. Two weeks after the attack, the father had referred to Sharia: "If a married woman leads a relationship and the Islamic judge sentences her to death, then I can not say no," he told SPIEGEL TV. The video caused outrage.
