Radio amateurs and seafarers have a historical connection. For 20 years, this passionate club has been associated with the events of the Route du Rhum. On their village, at the top of the campsite in the city of Aleth, Saint-Malo, from October 27 to November 4.

50 reception stations

The goal of this "village" is therefore to promote amateur radio. To young people of leisure centers, holidays ... "In four days, nearly 400 will participate in several activities: the search for an aircraft tag, the discovery of waves, telegraphy, voice, the digital world ..."

From October 27 to November 4, the Village will be open to the general public. Yannick Blandin has brought back much of his collection of radios. "There are about fifty reception posts, from 1900." They will be presented by Jean-Paul Bélan.

A record to beat

"Another member will come with 21st century radio. It will show the new technologies that can be found on boats today. A 7-minute film will retrace the "encounter" between Charcot students in their college and astronaut Thomas Pesquet in space.

The amateur radio club will also try to break their 2014 record. About thirty members will be in contact 24 hours a day to communicate with as many people as possible in the world. Code name: "Special amateur radio operation", from this point on Wednesday, October 24, at midnight. Objective to reach: to exceed 13,498 contacts.
