"Roskomnadzor sent the requirements of the need to connect to the state information system (FGIS) owners of 10 VPN-services," - quoted Interfax spokesman Vadim Ampelonskogo.

He said that notifications were sent to NordVPN, Hide My Ass !, Hola VPN, Openvpn, VyprVPN, ExpressVPN, TorGuard, IPVanish, VPN Unlimited and Kaspersky Secure Connection.

Ampelonskiy stressed that “in case of revealing the fact of non-compliance with the obligations stipulated by law, Roskomnadzor may decide to restrict access to the VPN service”.

FGIS contains a unified register of Internet resources prohibited in Russia.

According to the law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection,” VPN services are obliged to restrict access to prohibited Internet resources.

In late December, Roskomnadzor reported that the terms for removing prohibited information for hosting providers and website owners were reduced to one day from three in accordance with changes in the law.
