The standard of the Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris was stormed when researchers used paid € 50 saddles. Scientists want to test the effects of donors' fecal microbiota transplantation on intestinal pathology.

The Saint-Antoine Hospital is drowning in demands after calling for donations of stool in a study. The researchers propose a remuneration of 50 € to the volunteers. To advance science by going to the bathroom, you have to be 18 to 49 years old, benefit from the Social Security system, not be sick and not take treatment.

The researchers' request was first relayed on posters posted in the hospital, reports Franceinfo . The image of the signboards was shared on social networks on November 14th. Since then, "the phone number indicated in the call for donations is overloaded," says the management of the establishment.

Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment

The REBALANCE-UC study, for which specialists need fecal matter, focuses on "evaluation of stool transplantation in inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis," the poster says. The objective of the researchers is "to evaluate the efficiency of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) on the evolution of the disease" .

According to Le Monde, the use of TMF as a treatment for pathology has so far been practiced in only thirty establishments in France. The country does not yet have a stool bank, unlike other countries like the United States or the Netherlands.
