A motorist is said to have hit a 13-year-old at an intersection in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia, and drove away. The about 25-year-old man and his female companion initially got out on Thursday afternoon and inquired about the child's state of health, as the police in Recklinghausen reported. When the boy stated that he was not feeling well and his jacket was damaged, the man had given him a small amount of money, then got in the car and drove off "with screeching tires".

The 13-year-old, who was traveling with a scooter, went home, described the accident there, suffered a faint attack and was taken to hospital with the suspicion of internal injuries. The police is now looking for witnesses.
