Utopia 56 is an association helping migrants in Paris, Calais and elsewhere in France. This Sunday morning, on her Facebook page, she broadcasts the video testimony of a 10-year-old child of Afghan origin. He claims that he and his family were beaten by CRS in the capital on 1 November.

His name is Ahmed Reza. He is ten years old and comes from Afghanistan. It is filmed in the rain, an iron curtain closed behind him as a backdrop. He and his relatives are in the street. They applied for asylum. They are followed and helped by Utopia 56.

In this video shot by the association, the boy claims that he and his family suffered violent treatment from CRS, while they were in the square Anais Nin, Porte d'Aubervilliers in Paris, the 1st November. They were waiting for Utopia 56 volunteers to meet them and shelter them for the night.

"We were in the park and the police came," says the child. They told us "get up from here, you can not stay here". They beat my mom (who already has a back problem), my sister, everyone. They put tear gas on us and our things. I wanted to take a video. When I was filming, one of the policemen came, took my phone and erased the video. "

The activists of Utopia 56 say that for several months in Paris and several years in Calais, "the CRS do not hesitate to use physical force against men only exiles. Blows, jostling, throwing tear gas are unfortunately the daily lives of many of them. Nevertheless, this is the first time that we have seen such violence by police forces against families with small children and single women. "

"A 100% credible testimony," according to Utopia 56

The video posted by the association does not, however, provide the formal proof of this attack on the Afghan family by police officers. The intervention of the police is not shown. Only the boy testifies. "We never instrumentalize exiles," says Yann Manzi, co-founder of Utopia 56. It was the Afghan family who called us around 4:30 pm on Thursday. Our coordinator, working 200 m away, moved immediately and saw the CRS. Regularly, they come to evacuate Anais Nin Square, considered a point of attachment of migrants. "

Alix Geoffroy, field coordinator and co-chair of the Utopia 56 Paris office, intervened with the Afghans. She knows them well. "The boy's testimony is 100% believable, " she says. Other families nearby were also in shock, not understanding what had just happened to them. I saw the CRS blocking the entrance to the square. "

According to Yann Manzi, "The story of this child is similar to that of hundreds of other exiles across the territory. In everyday life, they suffer the violence of the police, with impunity and non-compliance with the Geneva Conventions and the rights of the child. "

Utopia 56 reports that it filed a "report" with the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) and seized Jacques Toubon, the defender of rights. The association is waiting for a return to its letters in the coming days.

Contacted, the police prefecture of Paris said to have read the video, but she does not wish to speak for the moment.
