After a dispute, a husband is said to have exposed his wife on a highway near Saulheim in Rhineland-Palatinate. The wife reported to the police on Sunday from an emergency call post on the A 63 and told the stunned officials that she had quarreled with her husband while driving.

He then "suspended" her and continued driving. The police took the 59-year-old to Mainz, where she called a taxi and allowed herself to be driven home. According to the police report, officials were unaware that "there were any quarrels on arrival at home."

If anyone profits, then the train

The car is the focal point of every relationship: smoldering conflicts and unfair dealings are more effective here, for long journeys in confined spaces. In addition, the passenger is delivered to the driver. However, they use their power position surprisingly often and expose their partner on the highway. No one benefits from this - except for the train in some cases.

  • In the middle of the racing tunnel of the A71 , a 45-year-old expelled his wife in a breakdown bay in June 2018 - after she had insulted him and threatened to beat him. A police patrol then took the woman to a train station. The husband was awaiting trial for unjustified detention in two cases. After the first stop, he stopped in another breakdown bay - not to see his wife but his son To change the passenger seat.
  • In November 2017, a man on the A93 near Regensburg did not agree with his wife's driving style and repeatedly took her into the steering wheel. She finally had enough of that and drove to the right - where her husband forcibly pulled her out of the car and drove away without her. The police picked up the woman on the highway and found the drunk man at a neighbor's birthday party a little later - and investigated him for dangerous traffic, intentional assault, coercion and drunk driving.
  • On the A2 near Braunschweig in 2011 it was the other way round: at Braunschweig a 42-year-old driver stopped after a fight on the hard shoulder and threw her husband out of the car. He was accidentally picked up by the police and was able to persuade his wife by mobile phone while driving in the patrol car to take him back to a petrol station.
  • Hardener caught a husband a year earlier at Seewalchen in Austria : A German motorist was traveling with child, dog and her drunken husband to Slovakia. For him, the holiday lasted only briefly, after he grabbed several times in the steering wheel, his wife put him out at a rest area. Shortly thereafter, she told other motorists about the dispute, which then contacted the police. She found the husband shortly thereafter, apparently not too agitated by the events, sleeping on a bank. The big reunion did not succeed a little later: his wife did not want to take him along anymore, even the police officers suggest that the dog should ride in front and the man in the back did not fructify. Instead, the woman pushed her husband 150 euros for the trip home in the hand and drove on. The police then took the husband to the nearest train station.
  • A memorable pinkel break experienced a 28-year-old in July 2003, on the A1 at Gevelsberg . In a parking lot he argued with his wife and told her to go on alone and went to the bathroom. This opportunity took advantage of the woman and drove away. The left man alerted the police, who took him to the nearest train station, via an emergency telephone.

Deadly end to incident in Italy

However, why this behavior is in no way a solution, was shown by a tragic case in Italy in 2016: There, a 47-year-old had left his wife at night on the A26 between Genoa and Valle d'Aosta after a row in the car. This continued on foot for about 20 kilometers until it was caught in a curve by a car and killed.

When the husband learned about his wife's death the next morning, he threatened to kill himself. The police initiated a preliminary investigation into aiding and abetting a careless murder.

To prevent strife in the car - or at least its escalation - couples should learn to argue. And also the traffic regulations can help, says couple therapist Ragnar Beer. There it says in paragraph 1: "Participation in road traffic requires constant caution and mutual consideration."
