"Being a real Frenchman, inseparably connected with his Armenian roots, recognizable all over the world, Charles Aznavour accompanied the joys and sorrows of three generations," he wrote on Twitter.

According to Macron, Aznavour's masterpieces, timbre and shine will survive him for a long time.

He noted that the French, along with the Armenians mourn for the musician.

Aznavour died on the night of October 1 in his house in the south of France. He was 94 years old.
