Doctors in the Scottish city of Dundee have removed a contact lens from a woman's eyelid after about 28 years of believing her loss.

Doctors discovered the lens after the 42-year-old patient complained of swelling in her eye.

The lenses were found in a shadow bag that has been mysteriously enlarged for more than a quarter of a century.

An attempt to use the magnet to control eye tremors was successful. The woman was hit by a feather ball when she was 14 years old, and I thought at the time that the lens had fallen due to the impact of the strike.

Details of the bizarre case were published in BMJ Medical Journal.
