In the case of the baby found dead in Poland from Duisburg, the investigators in the Ruhr area have a first track. The police may have discovered the old clothes container into which the little girl has been placed.

A corpse detection dog had taken on the container in Duisburg west weather and struck, the investigators said. The container was secured. "This is now closely examined for traces, including DNA or fingerprints of the mother," said a police spokeswoman. The investigators also followed evidence from the population.

The body of the girl whom the police gave the name Mia was found on 17 November in a sorting facility for old clothes in Kielce, Poland. The transport with the corpse of the newborn child had come from Duisburg.

200 containers are still under investigation

The police assume that the infant was placed in the city in one of the 470 containers of the Duisburg business. Overall, the police with three dogs therefore so far examined more than 100 containers.

The animals are to be used in the coming days at another 200 containers. The remaining 170 used clothing containers are not to be examined because they have not been emptied in the period in question.

The investigators also hope for evidence of recently pregnant women who now have no child. The message states: "Any hint, however derisive for you, is important for us to clarify this tragedy."
