In Chemnitz, there was a bomb threat against an office building in the city center. A stranger called the police headquarters at around 3:30 pm at the command and control center and pronounced the threat, a police spokeswoman said.

The building complex was evacuated, the surrounding streets were closed. The police are on site with a large contingent. About two hours after the phone call, the police began to search the building complex with explosive detection dogs. How many people were affected by the evacuation, the police could not say at first.

In the building are the youth welfare office and the welfare office as well as the office of the Sparkasse Chemnitz. Long-distance roadblocks resulted in local traffic shortfalls and considerable traffic disruptions.
